Pasture Raised Chicken

We are finished raising chickens for the summer of 2008, and are sold out until next spring.  Please check back with us in March or April to place your chicken order.

We raise our chickens between May and October, though we still sell the chicken meat through the winter while supplies last.

  • Our chickens are butchered at a state-inspected facility.  We sell these chickens at our farm, and also at the Laclede County Farmer's Market on some Saturdays throughout the summer.
  • Our chickens are packaged whole, and sold frozen except on butcher day.  We charge $2.25 per pound for frozen meat, and $2.15 per pound for fresh, whole chickens, if you come out to the farm and pick it up the evening of butcher day.  I will post our butcher dates on the website two to three weeks in advance.
  • If you are interested in parts and pieces, please either e-mail me or call us before butcher day to place your order.
  • Please call ahead 417-588-3827  or Email Us for orders.

Price list:

  • Whole, frozen chicken...........................................$2.25/lb.
  • Fresh, whole chicken, butcher day only....$2.15/lb.
  • Breast meat...................................................................$5.00/lb.
  • Legs and thighs............................................................$3.00/lb.
  • Wings...................................................................................$1.00/lb.

We have ended our third year of growing pasture-raised chickens.  Once our chicks reach about 3 weeks of age, they are put in movable pens out in the pasture.

These pens are moved every day to a fresh, clean area. This way the chickens get fresh grass and bugs to eat, along with the grain we feed them.

We have the grain ground using our own recipe, so there are no hormones or medications in the feed.

The chickens are butchered at about eight weeks of age. The average weight of each chicken is around four pounds. The meat is very tender!

You can bake, fry, grill, or prepare it with your favorite recipe, and it will be tender! (provided you don’t burn it!:)

Lebanon MO has a farmers market where we sell our chickens from May through October:

Farmers' Market of Laclede County.

You can stop by the Farmers' Market on Saturday mornings between 8:00 and noon, beginning May 3, 2008 and going into October. It is located in the downtown business parking lot, between Jefferson and Adams Street, next to the railroad tracks.

If you prefer certain pieces such as breasts, thighs & drumsticks, wings, etc., we may be able to accommodate you on the butcher date following your request.
